Weirdest book you've ever read? Empty Weirdest book you've ever read?

What's one of the weirdest books you've ever read?

For me it would either have to be "A Wrinkle In Time." Easily. *shudder* I really didn't like that book- it was just weird!

Hmm…I've never read A Wrinkle in Time, and I haven't read a lot of weird books--if I don't like it, I usually stop. Probably 1984 (though not in a bad way) or The Maze Runner (in a bad way.)

I wasn't a huge fan of the gore in Maze Runner, and then at the end, I found out it was about a zombie apocalypse--let's just say, I'm not getting the sequel. I hate zombies…they kind of freak me out too much. But I liked Abhorsen, and that's about necromancers. Ah well. I guess it all depends.

Wishes, Kisses, and Pigs was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. It went from normal farm story to witch-doctor voodoo-magic within the last couple chapters. I like surprises, but this was just way too much weird. Shocked

@Renee Ehh, I hate zombies too. They are kinda scary and way overrated. Shocked

@Amanda That definitely sounds weird. I hate the way reading weird books makes you feel at the end. Just kind of "Ehh...okay. Why did I read that?" Luckily it hasn't happened to me in a while. Or maybe I just blocked it out. Laughing

@Lizzy AAHHH I loved A Wrinkle in Time. I used to read it over and over again until I was, like, 14 ... It is a weird book, though. But oh man, if you thought the first book was weird. Haaaa. The second and third books were like ... a;dlkf;sdjfs. So confusing.

Hmm weird books. I remember reading this really bizarre book called Un Lun Dun. It was about this like, alternate version of London. I didn't like it much. All I remember is something about giant spiders ... or something. Speaking of giant spiders, I just remembered this book I read called Larklight that had giant alien spiders in it. That was also weird. Aaaand last summer I read this book called The Black Tattoo which was really weird. I just remember some part with these creatures that drank people's blood and then barfed into bowls, and then people ate the barf and apparently it tasted really good. And I was like ... Shocked

I loved A Wrinkle in Time, too! Though I can definitely see why someone wouldn't like it- the first two are kind of hard to understand and just a bit bizarre. I've read the first three and I ADORED A Swiftly-Tilting Planet- I didn't really realize how much I loved it until the end, but it's easier to make sense of than the first two. Smile

Hmmm, I don't really read anything that weird, but when I was younger I read this series about cats. *does Google search to try and find it* I don't remember what it was called, but they were these really short chapter books called something similiar to "Catiggan" or "Catigan". I read some awfully weird stuff when I was 8 or 9.

@Brittany I loved all the books too. A Swiftly Tilting Planet was my favorite of the three. I remember it really confusing me, but by the end I understood it and thought it was really cool––so, pretty much the same as you said. XD

Hmm. Cats. The first thing that comes to mind is Warriors, but that doesn't sound anything like Catigan/Catiggan so I'm guessing that's not what you're thinking of. Although, the Warriors books are pretty weird. I only read the first book and I think some of one of the other books ... It was very confusing because all their names sounded the same. Oh, and I also used to read those Catwings books––in which there were a bunch of cats who inexplicably had wings. Those were also rather strange.

To jump into the conversation, I read Catwings! They were some of my favorites, because they had cats--I was pretty much obsessed with cats through elementary school. I owned every hardback of Warriors up through the third series, but I didn't finish the third one b/c I'd grown out of it. I still have a soft spot in my heart for those first two series, because they were such a part of my formative*cough*fifth grade&up*cough* years.

I've always loved cats too. My first book was about cats. But... it was god-awful. Anyway, I also really enjoyed Catwings as a child. I used to read it over and over again, mostly because it was pretty short. But, it was an exciting story too––even if there wasn't much explanation.

Oh, it might have been Catwings, then, I just couldn't remember the name. Smile I'm not really a cat person at all, but I like the Warriors series.

@Renee Agh, The Maze Runner books! Don't get me started. I actually liked the first book alright for the most part––except at the end when it was suddenly like, "And then everyone turned into zombies because of SOLAR FLARES!" Uh ... That makes no sense. Also the main character is a major pain in the butt. He's so boring. And the writing style. So much telling instead of showing, it drove me nuts! I also read the sequel hoping maybe the plot would redeem itself, but it didn't. In fact, there seems to be very little plot at all. There was basically no explanation for anything that had happened in the first book, and all it did was add on more ridiculous plot twists that had me holding the book sideways saying, "HUH?" By the end I just didn't care anymore. I might read the third one just to tear it apart (figuratively) but I'm not particularly looking forward to reading it.
