What are you reading? :)

Post  Maggie on Fri Feb 04, 2011 1:30 pm

What's currently half-finished on your bedside table at the moment?

I love anything by Meg Cabot! I also like Ally Carter, Richelle Mead, Sara Shepard and I love Kelley Armstrong's YA Darkest Powers series!

Would you believe I haven't heard of any of these authors yet? I think I'll be extending my book list soon.

No way!!! Okay, you got to read all of the Darkest Powers series first! The first one in the series is called The Summoning and its by Kelley Armstrong. Then you have to read Meg Cabot's Mediator series (I think the first one is just called The Mediator) which is my favorite series and books of hers. And for Ally Carter you have to read Heist Society! I could go on but those are my favorites and are must reads in my opinion!

I'm always looking for new things to read too! And, I forgot, Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy (the name of the first book) series is a great one to read too!

Ok. I'll check it out. What's your favorite genre in general? My taste varies. I enjoy everything from high fantasy to dystopian. I've even found myself totally sucked in to a sci-fi before.

I really like paranormal. Which is the genre of all of those books except for Ally Carters. I do like a lot of different types of books but the ones I like the best always tend to be paranormal people set in the real modern world. What's dystopian again?

Oh, I've read books like that. My favorite of that genre is Scott Westerfeld's books, have you read any of them? He writes the Ugly series.

You have to! They are soo good! It's my favorite dystopian series (Though, I've only read a few) and he has a really cool book after it call Bogus to Bubbly (The title makes a lot more sense after you read the books) and it further explains the world and how he came up with the idea. It actually was just as good as the series itself! I read it in the library and then actually went out to buy it after wards!

*shakes head* I hear ya! Have you read the Hunger Games trilogy? That's dystopian, and the best dystopian I've read so far.

No I haven't read that series yet. I was thinking about it but then a bunch of people were saying that the most recent book in the series was really bad so I wasn't sure, but if you say its good I'll add it to my list!

The first book is AMAZING. The second is so-so, but by that point it's really the love story that was keeping me going. Then the 3rd book was, I agree, not the best thing I've ever read. But again, I seriously anticipated its release because I wanted to see how the love story turned out. *shrug* But definitely read "Hunger Games" by itself, if anything! I would recommend that to anyone.

^I agree with Lizzy. The Hunger Games trilogy is the best. I'm utterly obsessed with it.

Right now, I'm reading I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak.
