@Maya Just learning the basics of reading it isn't too hard. Smile Some letters are similar to the ABC's. Now speaking, that's a whole other thing lol.

I said 'Excellent, girls and boys.' Very Happy 'Praestans' was what my teacher wrote on the top of our papers…next to a vaguely creepy smiley face.

@Maya--I don't know if I would recommend it, because I had a bad Latin experience. There was only one class--all four levels packed into one classroom, since the demand was so low. So there wasn't much teacher-student interaction. He split his time between first and second years, and the third years and the one fourth year were pretty much on their own.

LOL Renee! Thank you for the translation. xD

And I hated Latin too, Maya. Because it's a dead language (and perhaps it was also the learning program I used... ) I never got around to actually SPEAKING anything strung together. No sentences. Just latin words and sometimes little phrases (like "green fish" or something like that).

@Renee
I wish I could learn Latin! My Mom thinks it's useless, but I think it's cool. ^^

@Shahira
Arabic is a beautiful language! I would be proud if I knew how to speak it and read it! It seems so complicated to me, lol.

Well France is a big enough country and you can find a lot of things it just depends where you live Smile

Ambitious. Smile I only plan to become fluent in Russian and Japanese. Maybe German--I've always had an interest, being part German and fascinated with their history.

Haha, when we're all big, famous published authors with books being translated and sold to other countries, Stephen can read all of them and make sure they were done right! LOL. XD

Oh, that's interesting! I thought it'd be the other way around. xP

@Lizzy and @Renee
Hmmm...based on what you guys said, I may have to reconsider Latin. I just kind of like how words have kind of "evolved" from Latin. xP

@Stephen
Ah! Yeah, France is really big. Everyone seems to just want to go to Paris, but I think I'd like exploring the rest also. Razz

That's why I took Latin. Well, I took it for credits but also because my mom thought -- as a writer -- it would help me to see how so many of our words have Latin roots. :-|

And I agree about France. Same here, completely.

I write a lot in french and if ever I can finish a novel I want to try and translate it myself into english Smile

That would be really cool, what genre are you writing? Lol, I couldn't understand the rest of the conversation Smile

I write stories of magic and mythology (like Percy Jackson), I also write poems Smile
I was saying that there are many ways of learning to speak languages, I learned to speak german by watching german TV. I also said there was no reason for being jealous Smile

Thanks for the translation Smile I'm gonna have to learn french to talk to you all aren't I lol. That's really awesome, I love those types of books. I wish I could write poetry, I'm very bad at it. How long did it take you to learn German through watching tv? That seems like it would be hard.

I was very young, so I was speaking german at about 7-8 years of age maybe a little younger

Oh, fun discussion that I missed most of!

First off, I tried to learn Latin. Yeah... That didn't work so well for me.

I'm learning Korean now! I can read it. That doesn't mean I understand everything I'm reading. xP

I LOVE traveling. I lived in the Philippines for a year when I was ten. I want to travel to... Ireland, Korea, Canada, Rome, and most of the rest of Asia and most of the rest of Europe.

Anyway, that's my two cents.
