Re: To Kill A Mockingbird
I read it! Lol, yeah I told you that already though. But I loved it. I had to read it for school so I decided on the weekend I would finish the whole book so that I wouldn't have to spend the week trying to keep up with all my other assignments. I wasn't expecting it to be good at all but after a few chapters I started really getting into it and I ended up loving it!

I read it for a school a while ago. I know that I liked it, I just can't remember much of it. I think it's time for a re-read lol.

Re: To Kill A Mockingbird
@Stephen Harper Lee wrote it. Here's the official clip from amazon:
It's actually a really good book so far!"A lawyer's advice to his children as he defends the real mockingbird of Harper Lee's classic novel—a black man charged with the rape of a white girl. Through the young eyes of Scout and Jem Finch, Harper Lee explores with rich humor and unswerving honesty the irrationality of adult attitudes toward race and class in the Deep South of the 1930s. The conscience of a town steeped in prejudice, violence, and hypocrisy is pricked by the stamina and quiet heroism of one man's struggle for justice—but the weight of history will only tolerate so much.
One of the best-loved classics of all time, To Kill a Mockingbird has earned many dis-tinctions since its original publication in 1960. It has won the Pulitzer Prize, been translated into more than forty languages, sold more than forty million copies worldwide, and been made into an enormously popular movie. It was also named the best novel of the twentieth century by librarians across the country (Library Journal). HarperCollins is proud to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the book's publication with this special hardcover edition."

It's not too sad, really. It's so well written and the characters all feel very real and alive. The world building's fantastic and it's really realistic to the time period. I'm enjoying it a lot.

just added it on my to read list xD
Re: To Kill A Mockingbird
I read it a few years ago for English and it wasn't that bad (not that anyone in my class agreed with me). The movie, however, really sucked.
Re: To Kill A Mockingbird
@Scribbler I didn't know they made a movie. O.O *goes to look it up* I think it's one of those required books that everyone has to read, but only half of them appreciate it a little. I didn't want to read it, I thought it sounded so-so, but I am enjoying it more than I thought I would.
Re: To Kill A Mockingbird
I haven't read it, because I've never been assigned it. Probably because, since I switched to homeschool in tenth grade, I haven't been given a book to read. (…I actually kind of miss book reports.) I think I'll give it a shot, though--I usually end up enjoying classics.
Re: To Kill A Mockingbird
I love To Kill a Mockingbird! Best book I was ever forced to read for school. Heh. And I disagree with Scribbler; I love the movie as well. Unless there's some remake of it I'm not aware of. (I LOVE GREGORY PEEECCKKK!)
Anyway, such a beautiful book. The writing is gorgeous and the story is so engrossing. I love all the characters too. Scout! And Jem! And Boo Radley! And Atticus Finch ... he is rather sexy ... in that older-guy kind of way. Or maybe I'm just really, really weird.

Re: To Kill A Mockingbird
@Brigid I agree! Best assigned reading. Though it was hardly an assignment because I WANTED to read it anyway.
*chuckles aloud* That IS weird. But the characters are lovely.

Re: To Kill A Mockingbird
Haha, that's true. I'd been meaning to read it before it was assigned, so it was more like a kick in the butt than assigned reading.
Yeahhh me and my odd character crushes. lol. But yes, they're all wonderful.
