I love books like that. I love anything that inspires me to live better, actually.
Re: Books that inspire you
I definitely agree with Sarah. That book really made me think about everyday life. Another book that inspired me was Thirteen Reasons Why. That one inspired me to spread the word to stop bullying. It's so sad to see that so many young teens are taking their lives.

I'm pretty passionate about the whole teen suicide thing. That sounds like a book I'd like to read. It's a sad, sad thing.

You've GOT to read Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. It's got to be one of the best I've read yet. He's giving away copies here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] if you're interested.Lizzy wrote:I'm pretty passionate about the whole teen suicide thing. Re: Books that inspire you
I commented on his blog. Wouldn't that be something to win a copy? *fingers crossed* Whether I win or not I intend to read it.
Re: Books that inspire you
I hope you win. But yeah, regardless it's definitely a must read.
Books that really inspired me to write though were Danielle Steel novels. I had this phase where I would JUST read her books & they're so outdated..ish haha. I loved them but then I got into YA &I've been stuck since.

Yeah, I've talked about it before on here but the Eragon books really inspired me. Also The Hobbit inspired me to do the whole epic adventure thing ending in a mountain of gold and jewels guarded by a dragon.
Dragons, dragons! I just love them. Usually any novel with a dragon in it seems to re-inspire me to write dragons.

I've never read a dragon book. But that's awesome that you're so inspired by it. I honestly never liked fantasy/paranormal stuff until I read Twilight. I was always against all that stuff. I used to strictly read romance books, nothing else. I'm still really into anything romance but I like when they throw in some paranormal into the story. Fallen Angels is my obsession most recently.

Re: Books that inspire you
I haven't read Twilight. Yet. I admit I have an attitude against it, just a bit. I've read a synopsis and wasn't impressed with her writing, plus it started the whole vampire hype. BUT, I'm going to read it to say I have.
I am a diehard fantasy fan but I'll cross over into other genres. Like Hunger Games. That's dystopian, and I loved it.

Re: Books that inspire you
I can understand why you don't want to read Twilight. But I personally think that the story itself makes up for her not so great writing. &the movies totally kill it so don't judge it based on those lol. The movies are horrible compared to the books.
Other than the Giver, I've never really read dystopian although I did buy Matched since I heard so much about it. I guess in the end, I just need a die hard love story & I'm in.

Re: Books that inspire you
I just bought the Giver! It's on my bedside table waiting to be read. *excited* I love romance IN novels, but I don't just read romance novels. The love story is a big part of a book for me, though. Though the idea of a vampire boyfriend with cold lips never exactly appealed to me... LOL
Re: Books that inspire you
lol that's what I meant. I don't like romance novels particularly but if there isn't a love story in it, I don't think I can enjoy it. :/
But yeah, I read the Giver in middle school &remember it being really good.

Middle school? Wow I'm behind. O.O
Re: Books that inspire you
Lol it was one of those books that we had to read. But think of it this way, at least now you'll be able to remember what happens in the novel.

LOL! So true! I'm looking forward to it.
Re: Books that inspire you
I've read Gathering Blue, the second in the Giver trilogy, but I still haven't read The Giver or Messenger, though they're both on my list of TBRs. I really liked Gathering Blue(I think I was in fourth grade when I first read it), so I'm not sure why--I think it was the old dude on the cover of The Giver. It made me think it was an 'old people' book.

Oh my gosh, I had the same reaction to the cover! I opened the package and just kind of stared at it. LOL!
Re: Books that inspire you
haha the cover really does throw you off. I think they could've done something different to make it more appealing. I didn't even know it was a trilogy though.

Yeah, me neither. Maybe if I like the first book I'll get the other two.
Re: Books that inspire you
Everything I have ever read has inspied me more or less but I couldn't say which would have the most because they all are complimentary
