Haaappppyyy Sunday!
I actually don't feel as energized as that title suggests. I've been cleaning most of today and now I'm sleepy so I'm having trouble writing. What's new with all of you?
Re: Haaappppyyy Sunday!

Re: Haaappppyyy Sunday!
I just woke up(I was gonna take a thirty minute nap, but I set my alarm for the wrong time, so it was more like an hour and a half). Still recovering from last night's party. (Cake, anyone? There's like, two cakes worth still here, plus a big store bought one. O_o) But I've been writing notes on my plot all day, so I feel semi-useful. I've also been avoiding the urge to writ snippets of scenes all day.
I have a question, though. I have this story idea. Then I have a story idea for book two. So far, I've actually fleshed out story idea two more than I have story idea one. It just... works for me more. I'd just ditch story idea one, but story idea two makes NO sense without it. Should I just give in and write story idea two first, then work on story idea one, or work on story idea one's plot until it's more appealing? (Cause I think that's why I'm not impressed with it; the plot doesn't have enough drive to it for me.)

Re: Haaappppyyy Sunday!
If you don't love story 1 then I say either don't write it or make the plot more appealing, that's your choice since I don't know what it's about I can't tell you if I think it's worth working on. But if you don't think you can make book 1 better then what I would try to do is make it so book 2 works without book 1, especially if the story is wayy more interesting, it'll be hard but if you really love the plot and the story then I think it would be worth it. Hope this helps

@Constance--I agree with Sarah--either make book 1 better, or set up book 2 so it doesn't need book 1, and so becomes book 1. If book 2 is really going for you right now, I might get out a rough draft, then come back and see if you can get a book 1 to work. If you can't, now that you have a whole book 2 to work with, and you can revise it to make sense by itself. That's probably what I would do. ()
As for my Sunday, I'm spending all of it cooped up in my room, trying to get 1/6 of a semester of government done in a day. Give or take. And I ran out of cream, so this is my last cup of black tea until we get more, and I seriously need the caffeine. Am I the only one that thinks of Fox & the Hound when the phrase 'cooped up' is used? I have a feeling I am...

Re: Haaappppyyy Sunday!
@Sarah I've thought of that... Removing story one completely would change the essence of story two. I'd have to remove one of the essential things that makes me love it so much.
@Amanda Lol. I think of chickens when I hear "cooped up".
I might try that. Maybe if I work backwards, book one's plot will be friends with me out of jealousy of book two.

Re: Haaappppyyy Sunday!
Constance. The only thing I can say is that if you are struggling through story #1, your readers will be bored as well. And there is no way anyone will believe an author who says "but it gets better, I promise!"
Figure out a way to condense "book one" into part one. Figure out how to make part one unneeded. Email me if you want help
As for my Sunday . . . well, let's just say I have finals this week!

Re: Haaappppyyy Sunday!
@Constance maybe you could try to incorporate the thing you love into book 2? If you want to email me the story idea I can try helping you figure something out
@Amanda that sooo doesn't sound like fun! I hope it's all going well and that you get more caffeine soon! Haha. Guess what? There's a possibility my brother is going to alaska in June. He doesn't want to take me so I'm probably not going but it sounds like so much fun! Lol, sorry about the randomness I just thought of that and I'm like 'I know people who live in Alsaka!' haha
@Taryn that really sucks, I have finals first week of June and I'm not looking forward to it

Aw, I feel loved. (:
@Taryn, "And there is no way anyone will believe an author who says "but it gets better, I promise!" That made my heart smile. See? ->
Good luck on finals and studying!! And good luck on finding caffeine, Amanda. And... Alaska makes me think of you and Renee too. (So you're not alone in that, Sarah!)

Re: Haaappppyyy Sunday!
My mom ran to Safeway to get eggs for oatmeal cookies(mmm...favorite), and picked up some half & half for me while she was there. So I've got caffeine for my work, and I've gotten a little over 1/12 a semester of government done today so far. So that was half of my goal, but still a lot. And I have about another hour of work before I retire to edits and sleep. All in all, pretty good day.

So sorry I missed this-- again, it didn't show up unread! So weird. Hmmm.... I would say fix and write story idea one because you can't have a two without a one. That's what I'd do, anyway. I know, easier said than done. You can do it!
