Dvorak or QWERTY
Who else here (if anyone) uses Dvorak?
For those of you who don't know, Dvorak is another keyboard layout designed to be ergonomically correct. All the keys you use the most are on the home row, next most-used top row, least used on the bottom. It's supposed to be like making your fingers run a mile in an hour, instead of 100 miles (as with QWERTY). A lot of people with arthritis or other issues in their hands or wrists have said when they switched to Dvorak, the pain went away almost completely.
Dvorak was named after its creator, Dr. August Dvorak.
I've been using it a while now––a little over a year, I think? Sometimes, I sit down at a QWERTY computer and it throws me a bit, but I'm to the point that after a moment to orient myself, I can type at either one with no problem.
So, Dvorak or QWERTY? Or maybe something else? There are a lot out there.

I've always used QWERTY but yeah, the Dvorak sounds awesome. My hands hurt a lot so I could probably use something like that lol.

Re: Dvorak or QWERTY
I researched Dvorak for a novel (lol) but I think as it is I like finger gymnastics.
Re: Dvorak or QWERTY
Huh. I've never heard of Dvorak. I use QUERTY, just because it's the only thing I've ever had. However, Dvorak sounds super cool. Though it might be hard for me to switch because I know a keyboard like the back of my hand (A QUERTY one, that is).
Re: Dvorak or QWERTY
A dvorak would be neat, but I'd probably only use it if it became the standard keyboard for everything. XD I know qwerty too well, and I'm able to type on it far faster than I've ever really needed too. I'd rather stick with what I know.
Re: Dvorak or QWERTY
@Stephen Oh, really? *goes to look it up*
@Taryn Really? Interesting. Keyboards never struck me as something that one would need to research for a novel... :p
@Lizzy QUERTY?
I think they should switch Dvorak to the main keyboard layout. QWERTY is inefficient––it was designed to slow you down. Back when there were typewriters, the keys that were used most often would get jammed because they were all close together, so someone designed a layout where they were spread out all across the keyboard. That was fine and dandy for a typewriter, but computers don't have a jamming issue.

@Constance *nods* I'd like a DVORAK. I'd like to learn it. But unless it becomes the standard keyboard, I'll just type with what I have.
