Deadlines :)

I have a deadline now! I've never had one before and I'm already getting super competitive about it, in other words I am now actively trying to finish before the deadline date I have to have 88k by July 20th, luckily I already had about 5k when I set it up on Scrivener so I don't have to write as much every day. Oh and that brings me to my next point, I LOVE Scrivener. Seriously, I took the laptop all yesterday and got really caught up in making the bar turn green and ended up going over it! *happy dance* I'm just super excited about it. Anyone else have a deadline?

I don't but I try to work on my novel whenever I can btw I idon't know how to set a deadline lol

Deadlines are amazing. Especially if you're competitive. Because what once was "50K in November" turns into "a novel in November" and then "a novel in any month" and then "faster than last time" and suddenly you're trying to do as many 5K days as possible. And if you fall off that it's "ugh, I need to hit 10K to prove I'm not pathetic" and finally you smack yourself.

Competitiveness.

Not that that's a problem I have.

@Sarah YAAAYYY!! You have no idea how happy it makes me that you love Scriv now too!! Isn't the green bar awesome?? And awesome about your deadline. How many words do you need to write per day to meet it?

The green bar is amazing! Best part of Scrivener by far! I have to write 1,517 words a day to meet the deadline, which isn't too bad but its going to go way up next week probably because I won't be able to write as much since it's exam week. I'll still really optimistic though

Not bad AT ALL! And summer's on its way so you'll have lotsa time!! WOOHOO! You can do it!!

I love deadlines! Mine's currently set for next Friday. I have 1.14k per day, which is manageable, considering all of the Russian I must also do by then. Heh. I actually turned the bar super dark green yesterday, then pulled my deadline back a couple days and also caught up with that.

@Lizzy Thanks! This is the novel I've been looking forward to writing for a while but I knew it wouldn't be easy so I put it off so I'm excited to finally be starting on it! And the word count is pretty easy to do everyday, which is always good.

@Amanda That's not too bad! You must be so close to finishing it! Are you excited?

I can't believe you are taking Russian, that has to be one of the hardest languages to learn, right?

Once I figured out how to pronounce all the letters, it got a lot easier. Latin seemed harder to me, but I learned it in a formal classroom, and Russian is with Rosetta Stone immersion style and feels a lot more laid back, so it seems easier. Idk, the accent could be difficult for some people, pronouncing all the letters correctly, but I'm pretty good at picking up that type of stuff. It makes me feel like a Communist spy, being able to tell Renee' things under the nose of others, but yeah.

As for finishing my rewrites, I'm not really excited. I mean, it's only like finishing a chapter of my existence, psh, big deal. XP

I need to look into getting this Scrivener. But it's just for Macs right? I've got a PC. :/

I don't have a deadline set but I need to do that. It'll definitely help me get more writing done. At the moment, I'm hoping to just get 1K done everyday & gradually increase that number.

Actually, you can get Scrivener for PC, Shahira...they came out with Scrivener for Windows last Novemberish. Apparently the Mac version is better, but the Windows version exists. ^_^

I haven't yet, because of Russian, but I'm making a little progress here and there. It's the end, so I think I'm going slow to make sure I get it right this time. I have ~6.5k to go.
