QOTD Tuesday June 21
It's the first official day of summer! Woooohooo!
QUESTION: What are your summer reads? How about writing. Are you writing anything this summer? Why or why not?

Re: QOTD Tuesday June 21
I'm rereading the Harry Potter novels in the lead up to the last movie, and then I've got quite a large TBR pile to finish off. There's some YA books I want to read, so I'll get them out at the library
As for writing, I'm still going to be working on my WIP, but there's a short story I want to finish off sometime.

@Scribbler Awesome! I love the HP books. I still haven't seen all the movies. Starting from the 5th up I have yet to see. *shakes head sadly*
Re: QOTD Tuesday June 21
I'm editing my MS, getting feedback from readers, revising, and then querying. And while I'm querying, I'll start the sequel. And I'm planning on reading A Conspiracy of Kings by Megan Whalen Turner(the first three are AWESOME) as well as C. S. Lewis' essays whilst on vacation, when not writing or hanging out with family.
P.S. The fifth movie was terrible. Daniel Radcliff's hair is apocalyptic. I didn't mind the sixth, though, and I LOVED 7, Part 1! I still think Harry's kinda ugly, though...prolly just my personal thing I need to get over. He's a better actor in Part 1, though Emma Watson outshines him in every movie.

You know you're a writer when you read essays by famous authors for fun...
Dude. What are you talking about Harry's hair being terrible?! It was so much better than his long hair in the fourth movie! It's been a while since I've watched the movies, so I'm not sure what my favourite one is. Although, the producers did leave a lot of subplots out of the fourth and fifth movies. That was disappointing.
Re: QOTD Tuesday June 21
I am going to be stressed by the 10 TBR books I have due to the library in 8 days and the deadline I haven't hit in ages.
But I'm gonna enjoy the heck out of the books as I read them, and be super proud when I do hit my deadline!

Re: QOTD Tuesday June 21
I think Harry's hair was horrible in both the fourth and fifth movies. *shudders*
Anyway, I plan to read the next three books of The Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner. They're so ingenious! And then the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld, as well as Behemoth. For writing, I plan to finish my WIP by mid-August. And finally, for editing, several sweeps of Amanda's now finished work so we can send it to betas and then agents.

I want to be on the forums more this summer lol. I've been back home in Albuquerque so no Internet. :[ But I have a HUGE pile of TBR books on the shelf. Both Classics & YA(HP novels are on that list.). I also really want to revise/edit Willow & get a lot done on my other WIP.

And Harry's Phoenix hair was not better than his hair in the fourth movie. He was working this terrible faux-hawk! I mean, the mane was rather out of control, but it's better than his jarhead atrocity. The sixth movie hair is just a teensy bit better, and as far as I can remember, his 7 Part 1 hair is semi-normal looking. His hair is supposed to be messy, and you can't have messy hair if some of it's under an inch long.
Re: QOTD Tuesday June 21
I think Harry's hair gets horrible as soon as he chops it off. It's not to the book, really, since it can't be a mess if there's barely any of it. I remember when I first saw -- I think it was 5? -- the poster where he lost all his hair. I was kinda shocked. Then he just never grew it back.
But I think Ron (or Rupert...) is so much cuter, and Emma is definitely the best actress out of the 3 of them.

*agrees with Twin*
Oh, speaking of Ron! For those that saw X-Men... Who else thought Sean/Banshee(the screeching guy) looked like Rupert Grint??? I almost thought it WAS Grint playing the character a couple times. Crazy likeness.

@Lizzy--Rupert Grint is a bit better looking...but I don't really like either of them, haha.
@Constance--I didn't actually connect Banshee and Ron, but they do look a bit alike, now that I think about it. Ron's mane makes it harder to see the likeness, but looking at movie stills from further away, I can see the resemblance, definitely.

Re: QOTD Tuesday June 21
@Amanda Aw, why don't you like Ron? I've always liked him better than Harry, even in the books!
Re: QOTD Tuesday June 21
I actually really liked Harry in the books. It's Daniel Radcliff I'm not a huge fan of, lol. Him & his voice & his hair. *realizes how superficial that is* *doesn't care* And there's just something about Rupert Grint I'm not crazy about either. Ron in the books is great, though.
Re: QOTD Tuesday June 21
Maybe you just don't like the movie actors, Amanda. O_o Are there any that you DO like?

Re: QOTD Tuesday June 21
Cedric Diggory! JUST KIDDING. Yeah, I don't really like the main actors. They were all pretty good in the first movie, for kids, but I expected their acting skills to improve with every movie, and with the exception of Emma Watson & sometimes Tom Felton, they didn't, that much. I liked all the adult actors...especially Alan Rickman & Maggie Smith--they were the perfect Snape & McGonagall, for me.
Re: QOTD Tuesday June 21
I agree about Snape & McGonagall. And the kids' acting. BUT there's something so sweet about Rupert you have to love him!
Re: QOTD Tuesday June 21
Oh yeah. Rickman as Snape was PERFECT.

Re: QOTD Tuesday June 21
@Lizzy--Alright, alright. Rupert is kinda adorable, in his own way. *concedes*
Re: QOTD Tuesday June 21
Reading: I'm trying to read 52 books this year and I'm massively behind, so I'm trying to catch up on that.
Writing: I'm working on a few short stories, then I'm revising a novel I wrote last summer, doing WriteOnCon in August and writing a new novel in August, too.
*awkwardly intruding on the Harry Potter conversation*
I never really took Dan Radcliffe that seriously as Harry Potter but I thought he was all right. I laugh at his hair and how short he is, but I really do think he's a good Harry Potter. And Rupert is probably my favorite HP actor. I really like Luna Lovegood in the movies (I think everyone does though).
