QOTD Wednesday August 17
These are certainly not daily questions! ^^
QUESTION: Have you ever wanted to write a novel but had none to write? If so, how did you solve this problem? What are some ways you get inspired?
Note: I'm having this problem right now. Hence the question.

Re: QOTD Wednesday August 17
Umm...I kind of have the opposite problem--too many novel ideas, and not enough time/brain power to really write more than one at once. I currently have ten fairly well planned novels, and one complete. Plus I'm always getting new ideas--I try to work them into my already fleshed out plans, so I don't feel overwhelmed with how much I want to accomplish in the next five to ten years. It's sad.
Oh! I have a RL friend with this problem--she has like 20 novel beginnings that all center around the same types of ideas, but never can figure out a whole novel. But she hasn't actually come up with any solutions yet...so idk. I get inspiration everywhere, mainly from books or movies where I see an aspect done really well, like a facet of a relationship, or a certain plot twist that I want to work with, and I build up from there. Lots of 'what if?' questions help a ton. I hope that helps, even just a little bit.

I never have a problem with inspiration, the problem is when I have 2 or more ideas that I really like but that I can't put together because they can not be put in the same story because it would make no sense :/
I love when that happens even though it can be very annoying to find a solution that I am happy with(I am too much of a perfectionist(even without having any talent, that a few people tell me I have: I don't know myself, not convinced :/) to find a solution I am happy with for more than a week or two lol)

Re: QOTD Wednesday August 17
August 17th was my little sisters birthday!!!
Anyway, yeah, I've never had this problem either *not helpful* The reason why is that I tell stories to myself all day in my head but once I write down a story idea (like start writing it, even if it's just the first page) I can no longer tell the story in my head unless I'm actively writing it at the moment (if that makes any sense). So afterwards I have to think up a new story to tell in my head (hence, I never run out of ideas).
But, maybe try walking around and make up stories about people on the street? Maybe one will inspire something amazing

Re: QOTD Wednesday August 17
I think we've discussed this... But yes, I have. Recently. *cough*last*cough*week*cough*
Just because I have a million story ideas written down (which is only a slight exaggeration), that doesn't mean I want to write them. I love them all, but I just don't have that passion for them.
My only solution is waiting. Obviously that was the only thing that worked for me. I tried to get myself to write with all different sorts of tactics. But nothing worked, until my story idea just... came to me.
So.... I think if you just wait it out, something will inspire you, Twin. You are a writer, and it would take a lot to stop your brain from being writerly and coming up with another story.

I second Constance's advice. Not only because she's awesome but also because I really think that's the only way you can "cure" this sort of problem. By waiting.
Another suggestion is to maybe start a dream journal and record whatever dreams you remember from now on. ALL of my novel ideas come from my dreams--which is why all my novels make people go: O_O; (since they're like the textual version of Dali's paintings). Of course, it isn't easy to remember dreams...(in fact, I only have vivid, novel-worthy dreams one or two times a year), but I remember hearing my Psych teacher say that when we make it a conscious effort to remember our dreams, it becomes much easier.
Aside from that, you can read lots of books, watch lots of movies, listen to lots of music...just keep your creative juices stimulated. Your brain will come up with something soon enough so don't worry about it.
