QOTD Thursday November 3
Wow! It's been FOREVER.
QUESTION: What's the hardest part about NaNoWriMo for you? Why? And if you're not participating, what's the hardest part about drafting in general and why?

Re: QOTD Thursday November 3
Umm...not getting burnt out. I found out that I work ridiculously slow. I set a timer for brewing my vanilla chai last night—six minutes—and I wrote while it brewed. When it went off, I had maybe a paragraph. Maybe. That's about four sentences in six minutes, so that's 2/3rs of a sentence per minute. And I was really getting into it, so you could probably cut that productivity in half, or in thirds, for when I'm not exactly sure how to word things. WHY?
The silver lining is that Renée said it was pretty good. I need to include more sensory details, but other than that, she said that it was, in general, a 6 or 7, on an exponential scale of 1 to 10. And when comparing it to my other first drafts, she said it would be an 8 out of 10, 10 being my first drafts on the last two chapters of The Night. So I'm generally satisfied with the product, if not with the speed...not with the speed at all, haha.

For me, the hardest part is shutting off my internal editor and just writing. It takes a long time to get into it, and even when I'm in the zone, I'm thinking of different ways to say things and going back and changing them, or worse—changing things before I write them. That's a new one. It's probably because what I do most is edit, and I don't have a lot of practice just writing. But that's what Nanowrimo's for, eh?

Aww, I know what you mean! I don't work slowly, but rather I have to rein myself in. I get burned out quickly from writing waaaaayyyy too much.
And it's probably because you're one of those quality-first writers, huh? And I don't think I'd show my NaNo work to Renee! Haha.
(Oh, and I was under the impression tea was 'steeped' ... not 'brewed'?)

Oh goodness! I'm so sorry! LOL! And yes, that's totally what it's for. You can do it!
Re: QOTD Thursday November 3
@Maggie--Both brew and steep work. They actually mean the same thing, except brew is slightly more accurate, because the definition specifies hot water(not that I just looked it up to check...or anything...nope...I have this info off the top of my head. Obviously.).
And, yes, I suppose quality-first is a good description. It's just frustrating.

Re: QOTD Thursday November 3
@Amanda Haha, I should know better than asking by now. I've just come to terms with the fact that you know *everything* about tea and coffee.
Re: QOTD Thursday November 3
LOL. I wouldn't say that. But it is an area of interest, and I have acquired much knowledge on the subject.
