Cinda Williams Chima
I just finished The Exiled Queen, and(aside from some minor things) I LOVED it! Granted, I've loved all Mrs. Chima's books so far. But still.
What's your favorite of her books(From the Heir series and the Seven Realms series), and why?
(And cause I always want to know) What's your favorite character from the favorite book?
Mine would be The Demon King, and Han/Cuffs. He's totally awesome. Kinda person I'd want on my side.
Your turn!

Re: Cinda Williams Chima
My brother read The Exiled Queen recently(he was kind of embarrassed to carry around a book of that title, but whateve), but I haven't. What are those two series about/what titles are within them? My mom buys tons of books, so I probably have all of them in my house somewhere...
Re: Cinda Williams Chima
Amanda––Lol. Yeah, I could see why. Hey, it's got a cool cover, though!
Oh, they're pretty darn good. I definitely suggest them––especially the Seven Realms books(Demon King, Exiled Queen)
The Heir series is modern-day fantasy. The first book, The Warrior Heir, is about a guy who is, obviously, a warrior. Naturally, he's got no clue, until he stops taking(or forgets, can't remember which) his medication. When that happens, the story REALLY starts. Here's the sum-up on Mrs. Chima's website: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
There's three books(Warrior Heir, Wizard Heir, Dragon Heir) right now, but Mrs. Chima is/will be working on two more.
I love her character development. Even her minor characters come to life for me.
The Seven Realms series is a bit different. It's fantasy, and is pretty different from the Heir series, but the magic element feels the same to me. I mean, it's not––no stones in the chest––but the reliance of the magic on a tangible object is similar.
But I digress.
Again, her characters are great, and her skill for world-building comes out even more than in the Heir series. I have clear mental pictures of the scene at all times. It's like a movie.
Here's the summary for The Demon King: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I love good fantasy that's not too verbose(I wince to use the example, but Lord of the Rings, anyone?) but still brings the world and characters to life. Demon King and Exiled Queen both fit the bill. I'm patiently waiting for the next one. See? The epitome of patience.

Re: Cinda Williams Chima
I'll have to look into those, then! Ahh, I mean, when I have time. Graduation's coming up--got to get all those credits in. And finish the WIP. But I'll get to them in the summer. Hopefully. I'm really excited to get started on my sequel-ish WIP, so that might take up my summer, in between querying. There will be time to read...eventually.
Re: Cinda Williams Chima
Heh, I know how you feel. I'm not all that busy right now, but once summer hits I will be! Moving to another country takes a bit more prepping and packing and selling and storing than moving around in the same country. :/
You're almost finished with your WIP? Is this your first book to finish? If so, congrats!! And good luck on the querying. That part terrifies me, personally, cause there's one agent I want to get(Kristin Nelson from the Pub Rants blog). Seriously, I think she'd make the best agent in the WORLD. So, I'm kinda glad I'm nowhere near that stage.
The time for reading will always sneak back around The only problem is deciding which books to read... O.o
