I Cried When...

Post  Said the Silence on Thu Jun 14, 2012 10:04 pm

CAUTION!! SPOILERS MAY OR MAY NOT BE BELOW!!

How this works:

  • Each person to post begins their sentence with "I cried when".
  • Then he or she writes what made them cry in a book.
  • After that, he or she puts the title and author of the book.

Example:

I cried when Rue died.
The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins

Oh how fun! Lessee.

I cried when Beth died.
Little Women, Louisa May Alcott

(So...I don't cry in books much. That took a lot of thinking for me. Razz)

(Hunger Games spoiler below!)

I cried when Peeta was back, but messed up, and tried to strangle Katniss.
Mockingjay, Suzanne Collins

I also cried when Dustfinger died, but I didn't want to do the same thing.

This is such a good idea!

Fun idea! I'm going to hide the ones I'm not sure everyone's read, the newer or less read ones, because, it's just…the IMPACT. If you know about it, you lose the impact! Shocked This post is long…and I ended up hiding a lot. I don't actually cry that much, I promise! O_o

I cried when Leslie died. (Well, when my fifth grade teacher cried, while he was reading it for the twentieth time to the class. I can't stand it when grown men cry…plus it was incredibly sad.)
The Bridge to Terabithia, Katherine Paterson

I cried when
Spoiler:
Eugenides lost his hand.
The Queen of Attolia, Megan Whalen Turner

I cried when
Spoiler:
Rufy Blesh
died.
Slaves of the Mastery, William Nicholson

I cried (a lot) when
Spoiler:
Kestrel
died.
Windsinger, William Nicholson

I teared up…during something I don't really recall. But it was sad.
Later in the Alex Rider Series…, Anthony Horowitz

I cried when Dumbledore died.
The Half-Blood Prince, JK Rowling

I sobbed when Harry died.
Spoiler:
(Actually, I cried all the way through the last part of the book on and off, starting when Colin Creevey died, especially when Sirius (He really died??? The only reason I didn't cry at the end of Order of the Phoenix, was because I was sure he wasn't dead. He just fell through a curtain, right? Right.), Lupin, James, and Lily showed up with the Resurrection Stone, and then Harry died, and then Narcissa was all lying to protect Draco, and then Hagrid was crying, and Neville was brave, and Harry's love protected them all…yeah. Let's just say I was deeply moved.)
The Deathly Hallows, JK Rowling

I cried when
Spoiler:
Buttercup came back and was looking for Prim, but Prim wasn't coming back because she died. (I didn't cry when she actually died, mind, just when the innocent little cat was forlorn. IT DIDN'T UNDERSTAND. Sad)
Mockingjay, Suzanne Collins (So, I'm pretty sure most everyone has read this, but there are holdouts. You know who you are….)

I cried when
Spoiler:
Humberto
died. And it was mostly shock. Like, …did I just read that? That person's coming back, right?
The Girl of Fire and Thorns, Rae Carson

And…the rest are movies or TV shows, like Avatar(Airbender, not the blue people) and X-Men: First Class. I like my entertainment to move me. ^_^

Wow, you read some awesome books... I love the Windsinger and Queen of Attolia, although neither of them made me cry. They're still amazing!!

How'd you do that spoiler thing, Renee? *seriously impressed* And that's a lot of books! Seems you've had some emotional reading times! XD *amused*

@Gracie — Yes! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's read Windsinger and the Queen's Thief! I hadn't met anyone who'd read those until now. Very Happy

@Maggie — Haha, I knew a spoiler feature had to be on here somewhere! It's under the "Others" option on the toolbar. And…yes, emotional reading. Very Happy If I like a book—it's well written & the plot's sound—I'll trust the author with my feelings and fully invest myself in their story and characters. If I'm moved by it, then I know they did a good job. And if I hadn't invested myself before that point, and they still managed to move me, then I know they did a really good job. Sad Razz

Yay for less-known books. Wink I love Megan Whalen Turner's writing. She is a master, and she's so good at writing unexpected plot twists. I am blown away by her books every time. Eugenides is pretty awesome, too.

Ahh, yeah. I know the feeling. And now I totally need to hunt for that spoiler feature. O_o

WOW! It's a spoiler!

Coming late to the party, and I'm seeing a lot of cool titles that are currently in my TBR list, but here are some of my sniffly books.

—I cried when Peony died.
Cinder, Marissa Meyer

—I cried when...Persuasion. Just Persuasion. For some reason, that book makes me sniffle constantly.
Persuasion, Jane Austen

—There was definitely something in my eye when Tris's mom died.
Divergent, Veronica Roth

I tend not to *cry* with books, even if they REALLY affect me—hence the short list. But there are so many awesome books listed here that I suspect I'll get to expand my own list soon. :-P
