I'm reading Pride and Prejudice right now, as a result of watching The Lizzie Bennett Diaries on youtube (I haven't read it before).

@seonac Oooh, good for you! French books? Love it!

@Amanda Hahah. I know the feeling. That whole "I will read it." Because I'm doing that right now, with 3 different books. They're all perched side by side on my desk, chiding me for not making the time to read them. Razz

@Alyssa I love Pride and Prejudice. Are you enjoying it?

I'm not really sure what to think yet... sometimes it's slow and annoying but sometimes it's really interesting.

Re: Summer 2012 reading

Ooh! Summer reading! Yes!

My library finally handed over about a quarter of the books I meant to read during the school year, and didn't get to. Hence, these are now sitting on my bed, going reeeeeead meeeeee.

LEGEND by Marie Lu
THE GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS by Rae Carson
THE IRON KING by Julie Kagawa
DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE by Laini Taylor
INCARCERON by Catherine Fisher
THE SCORPIO RACES by Maggie Stiefvater
BETWEEN SHADES OF GREY by Ruta Sepetys

Already read are:

FOR DARKNESS SHOWS THE STARS by Diana Peterfreund
ODD AND THE FROST GIANTS by Neil Gaiman (yes, it's a kid's book, but DUDE. NEIL GAIMAN. FROST GIANTS. IN ONE.)
HOMER'S ODYSSEY trans. Fitzgerald (it counts. It totally counts.)
SUPERNATURALLY by Kiersten White

I'm still waiting for SHADOW AND BONE to come in. If my library doesn't get it in soon, I might just buy it anyway. Do you guys have any recommendations? I want to expand my list further.

@Alyssa—That's how I felt when I first started it, b/c, having just finished Emma, Jane Austen's writing wasn't quite as good in P&P. But by the end…I was in love. *sigh* Razz Mainly because of Darcy. I relate to him on many levels. We're the same Meyers Briggs personality type! Very Happy That still makes me a lot more excited than it should, but whatever. Wink

@Rachel—GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS is screaming REEEEEEAAD MEEEEE because it's incredible. Just so you know. Smile

I've been cheating, Goodreads has lists of new releases for each month and I've been going through them and picking all the ones that look good and reading them lol. So here's a short list of books I've read recently and liked:

Of Poseidon by Anna Banks
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E Smith
Darkness Before Dawn by J. A. London
Grave Mercy by R. L. LaFevers

Re: Summer 2012 reading

Here's the summary that was on Goodreads:

Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.

Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling.

Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha…and the secrets of her heart.

For some reason I felt like that wasn't that great of a summary because it doesn't give the same feel that the book does, but if you go on Amazon Kindle they are letting people read the first 5 chapters of the book for free which will give you a better idea of what the books about Smile
