how has a book affected you differently than others? Empty how has a book affected you differently than others?

So I just recently read a post about banned books week (I think it was at YA Confidential), and that made me think of how different books affect different people in different ways. Anyway, that made me wonder what the different ways people are affected by books are. So I was wondering, what books have seemingly affected you very differently than the majority of other people who have read that same book?

(Wow... this is turning out to be a lot more confusing than I mean it to be...) I guess, what experiences have you had with books that seem to be very different from the experience anyone else had with that same book? I'm curious. Neutral

You explained it just fine Smile

I think in general books will typically affect people differently because we all live different lives. A lot of times the people that work to get them banned think that teens shouldn't be reading them because they talk about topics that we "shouldn't" be experiencing yet. The fact of the matter is that in many cases we are and for someone going through something that a banned book discusses people are taking away something that could possibly help them because it relates to them. If that makes any sense... I can't think of any good examples off the top of my head about a book that gave me a different experience than it gave a friend right now because most of my friends don't read unless forced but I love this topic and would like to hear what everyone else thinks Very Happy

You worded the question just fine. Smile And it's an interesting one! I don't actually know, come to think of it... I know I've often loved books that others in my family/friends didn't like, and at the same time hated books others have loved. I think it has a lot to do with personal opinion, and like Sarah said, with your own life and experiences and how something may touch you. *shrug*

Wish I could think of an example. :\
