March Madness

Post  AWriterGoneMad on Thu Feb 17, 2011 4:59 pm

I'm going to go mad in March. That is, if I can manage to go on sub then. A tiny piece of me is still hoping that I'll start querying this month, but I don't know if I'll have all of the edits done in time.

I was really hoping February would be my month, but if not, I'm aiming for March. Do or die.

I'm sure I'll be using this thread a lot once everything goes out, to keep everyone abreast of my journey. Hopefully the requests will outnumber the rejections, and it'll be quick and happy, but we never know. Hopefully, there'll be a light at the end of the proverbial author tunnel for me. Smile

It's going to be so much fun telling you guys everything that happens. I think I might frame my first rejection. What do you think?

Yes! Do frame it. And you must keep us all posted, definitely, because it will be an inspiration to others embarking on the same journey. Very Happy

If it's on real paper, then definitely frame it. Form rejections to email queries don't lend themselves to being framed in glory. (Someone I heard of simply got back "No." once, lol!)

Amanda and I plunged into the query pool three years ago with the worst-query-ever, and then a slightly better version of the worst-query-ever, combined with the novel-that-was-not-edited (be afraid, be very afraid.) We got form rejections, a full followed by a rejection, followed by more form rejections, and then a helpful rejection/offer to re-query after edits, and a polite "no" with suggestions. We've been rewriting on and off ever since. (By "we", I mean I suggest stuff and Amanda does it.)

It's an arduous and disheartening experience, and I wish you the best of luck with it.

I'm just kidding. tongue If you have a thick skin, it's not all that bad. Rejections have ceased to affect me after that experience, and I haven't queried anything! I recommend, if you're not already a member, to get with [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. It's the best site ever, (it helps you…track queries…yeah,) and the forum is full of helpful people--that's how we managed a full before we realized that we needed to rewrite. Very Happy But seriously, good luck--I wish you the best!

Oooh I dove in two weeks ago! Currently, I have like 15 waiting patiently for response, five rejections, and five MS's waiting to be read. I think querying is really fun as long as the query and MS are actually ready to be seen. That ws my problem with my MS last year. *shudders*

Anyway, good luck and keep us posted for sure!
