Mad and I have been talking about author photos and what we'll wear and want the composition / lighting to be like.

What do you have in mind for your author photo? Have you thought about it? Is it a big deal or not a big deal? Who do you want to take the pictures?

I'm very interested. Smile

hmm I really haven't thought about it. Knowing me I'll run to a cheep photo studio last second, make them take a picture, grab it and turn it in. Then wonder ten years later why I didn't take time to set it up because I'll find something not to like in it. Then another ten years will go by and I'll look back at it wishing I still looked like that. haha, okay its now been planned out Very Happy

What about you Lizzy?

LOL! You're funny. xD

Well, I'm a photographer so I can't help but think artistically. I know I want it to be different and not too bookish, if that makes sense. I might have a friend take it for me, rather than go to a studio. I hate pictures of me so it will be an interesting process trying to find one. ^^

All I know is I want to look like me. Nothing fancy or stiff. Hehe .

I actually never thought about it until Mad mentioned it.

That sounds really cool. I could see you doing something more artistic, instead of the normal "look at the camera and smile" pose.

I would want to be in front of a fireplace with a cup of tea in a nice, button down shirt, sleeves rolled to the elbows. Or sitting on top of a mountain in the same clothes or a pea-coat and scarf depending how cold it is, looking epically off into the distance, just past the camera. Very Happy (I really like button shirts, pea-coats, and scarves. And plaid. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Cool) I only just thought about it now, lol--it sounds like I've had it planned. I'd want either my dad (photographer) or some other professional, so they get my good side. Razz

@Lizzy -- Yeah, I don't like pictures of myself either. My face tends to distort so it doesn't even look like me, in a bad way. It's really weird.

I have the same face-distorting problem--there's maybe two or three good angles for my face, and I never get it right when taking pictures. It's my stupid German nose. It ruins everything. Razz

As for my picture, if I can find a good angle, I'd like it to be kind of epic/mysterious looking, maybe even a bit mischievous, to go with my epic fantasy novel. Nothing too bookish, but something very me. Fireplace lighting would be cool, or maybe sunset lighting in a grove of pine trees. Something like what I have in the sidebar would be cool, except closer with a different pose. Those are in the hobbit trees on a mountain about ten minutes from my house. It'll take a bit of a hike to get there, but those would be some killer author photos! Very Happy

Haha, no, it's totally fine. We're identical, probably. They don't know for sure. Our younger brother looks a lot like us, so we might just be really similar looking fraternal twins. Unlikely, but it could happen.

Funny story--Renee' and I were hanging out with some friends in a McDonalds later last night, there was a bit lull in the conversation, and these random people were like 'Hey, are you guys twins?'. They had a $50 bet going, and they went on to guess who was older, our age, and our birthday. After they left us alone, I turned to one of my friends, and I was like 'Hey, let me guess your phone number, and how about your Social Security Number, too?' Haha, some people just don't know when to stop. Rolling Eyes

LOL!!! omg that is really funny (and kinda creepy) but really funny. People are really weird some times!

I thought only identical twins could look alike until I saw Mary-Kate and Ashley. Cause they're fraternal, but the only way you can tell them apart is by what hand they use. Still, whether your fraternal or identical, just looking like each other is really cool. Though, I'm sure for you guys it might get old.

Your dad is a photographer? That's awesome!

I know a lot of photographers, interestingly, and they're my friends so I could just ask any or all of them to take photos until I found one I liked. ^^

I like your idea about a mountain! Are there beautiful places near you that you could use for that? Alaska is beautiful, isn't it?

Yeah, my dad mostly does videography, but he also has a background in photography. Alaska is the prettiest place I've ever been. Smile And lol, my back yard is probably good enough, but I'd really like to use the hobbit trees. They're about a ten minute drive, then ten minute hike from my house, so not that much of a trip.

They're really tiny, stunted pine trees that grow on the mountain. They're twisted into these curvy, weird shapes because of the wind and altitude. I call them hobbit trees because they're all rounded, like a hobbit door, and they're really short. Smile You can see about how big they are in my picture--keep in mind that I'm just a little over 5'. I feel like a giant in there. XD

@Amanda People are so weird haha. But I've always wondered what it would be like to have a twin. Especially an identical twin. I think it's really cool. Smile

I've never really thought about the author photo. I don't like how a lot of authors just kind of have a plain & simple picture. I feel like those are okay for yearbooks but as an author shot? No way.

I want something super artistic. Probably on a beach or something. I've always been obsessed with the beach but can rarely go to one since I've never lived anywhere near one lol.

Or maybe a picture with the purple East Mountains(Sandias) at sunset. I grew up in Albuquerque, NM & the view of the mountains is just something I never got over. Smile

@Amanda That's so cool! I love learning new things.

@Shahira I like your idea. Beach or mountain settings would make lovely pictures.
