So my family is watching the Harry Potter marathon this weekend and it got me wondering what everyone's favorite Harry Potter book is and if your favorite book is different from your favorite movie in the series?

For me my favorite Harry Potter book is the between the 7th and the 4th and my favorite Harry Potter movie is the 4th one. I just loved the Goblet of Fire in general Smile

Deathly Hallows was FOR SURE my favorite book. I literally bawled at the end, and I'm not really a crier, haha. I had to stop reading until I calmed down, b/c I couldn't see through the tears. Shocked I don't really have a favorite movie…I think the first one was closest to its respective book, so I'll say I like that one the best. Smile And then my second favorite of the books was Half-Blood Prince…yeah, I liked it when it got dark. Razz

Me too! I cried when Harry decided to die in the 7th book even though I knew he would obviously be fine but it was just so sad! And I cried when Fred died. That just wasn't cool. The first movie was amazing and I think it would be my second favorite. Harry Potter movies were just really good in general because it seemed like they tried to stay as close to the book as possible, except for the 6th movie, that one just made no sense to me at all.

My favorite book was probably Goblet of Fire. With Order of the Phoneix as a close second. And as far as the movies go... ackk. That's so hard! I really like the first one, because you just can't go wrong with it. And I haven't seen the entire thing(s) of 5-7 yet. Just scenes. O_o Which I should probably fix at some point. So I don't really know. I can't pick a favorite movie.

Oh, and @Amanda... I didn't really love book 7! It was kinda rambly and too many people died. Why did you like it? Aside from the fact that it made you... cry? Which I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Laughing

I liked the quiet tension of 7, how they were like 'WHAT THE HECK, Dumbledore?! We have no idea what we're doing!', and then all the pieces slammed together so fast, it went from quiet to breathless. And…I love being emotionally moved by stories. Especially moved to tears, because I don't cry too often—it's a novelty experience. Razz So if an author does that to me, they've done a brilliant job, and I admire that. Smile

@Maggie You're not really missing much by not seeing 5-7 in my opinion. The 7th part 2 movie was the only good one out of the bunch but it's still fun to see them all Smile

@Amanda Well put! That's how I felt about it too Very Happy

Ahhh. Makes total sense when you put it like that! I, too, enjoy being emotionally wrenched by stories. But I don't remember HP7 doing that for me, particularly. I was sick at the time, and guzzling mugs of tea, so that's all I really remember.

That's good to know, because I've felt like I'm missing out. ^^ I'll get to it eventually!
