Villains! :)

This is a fun topic.

What's your favorite kind of villain to create? And you can translate that any way you want.

For me I love cold, chilling villains. Smooth, slick, crafty...that kind of thing. I also like murderous types. I also like female villains because they're just ten times creepier sometimes, if you know what I mean? In some cases.

I also love deceptive villains. Charmingly handsome guys with terrible plots etc.

I really do like creating villains.

I like villains who are complex (take, Voldemort and Darth Vader).
I also like villains who think they're doing the right thing/good.
I like villains who have motives, they aren't just focused on killing the hero for no apparent reason.

Yeah, I love reading complex villains. I try to write them, but don't know if I pull it off. And motives are always key.

How do I love thee, villain? Let me count the ways.

I like my villains just a little insane. (Mine's delusional and has a huge ego.) Their motive is their obsession--especially relating to a person or thing--and they think that what they're doing is in the best interest of that person or thing, only it isn't. I like villains with tragic, understandable backgrounds, explaining how they got that way. Complex is good.

I like my villain's to be sort of be the good guys, if that makes any sense. Like, I make them so the readers have hints that the person isn't all what they seem and then they find out later that their the bad guys. Complex is very very good! My bad guys have to have reasons behind there actions and I sort of want people to love them just as much as they hate them. lol, to say the least my villains are complicated

Villains are the best! They must be complex, of course, and have a few redeeming qualities that don't quite redeem them. Or have a reason for being completely evil, like Voldemort. I do like the deceptively charming ones, for a more specific type of villain, with a past and a good motive, hopefully several good motives, because real people rarely have one reason for doing something. I also love the closely-related anti-hero, with an undying passion--they totally think they're doing the right thing, and they're actually a pretty good person, when it comes down to it, though they have a dark side/some unlikeable qualities. They're probably the most fun to create, for me.
