QOTD Sunday May 15
Yay Sunday! Here's the question.
QUESTION: What's your favorite part of the novel to write: beginning, middle, or end? Why?

My answer has to be beginning or end. I LOVE starting novels because there's so much promise and mystery of finding out what's going to happen next and the freedom of taking it anywhere (pantser here!). But I also love writing endings because they're big and exciting and I usually sit down and do them all at once because I can't tear myself away.
So it's almost a tie. ^^ But I HATE MIDDLES.

Ughhhhhhh I HATE ENDINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love love love love love beginnings (mostly b/c I've let my excitement for the story build up enough that everything spills and 2 10K days in a row are awesome). Then I settle out to 5K days, and I like the middle scenes, when I torture my characters, but I don't like the transition filler between scenes parts.
But I don't like endings b/c I have to say goodbye. Also, I don't like giving characters happy endings :p

I love beginnings! I love middles! I love endings! ...*cough*
But mostly endings. Beginnings are fun, but I'm still spending half my time figuring out who the characters are and what's going on. Middles are always getting ready for something awesomer that comes later. But endings are awesome. I get to wrap it all up, pull out all the stops, and when I'm done, I have a complete novel sitting there. So yeah, endings are the best.
Besides, I've written far more beginnings and several more middles than I've written endings. XD

Hmm...I like everywhere that I'm excited about. Which kind of ends up looking like a cosine wave. And after the first draft is done, it shifts to a sine wave. By which I mean, in general, I like beginnings to begin with, but not after I realize I need a better one to hook readers. And then keep getting stuck trying to make a better one. And how much I like the middle is kind of evened out by the highs and lows of my own excitement. And the ending starts as something I really like, but ends up being something I have to rework. So I like the middle probably the best, overall. But this is all based on one book, so it'll probably change.

the beginning because you know nothing and all is still to be discovered,
the middle because of the action and because you still have to find out a lot
and the end because you can imagine anything that can happen after the end of the book

Beginnings are fun if I can get the story to flow right away. But sometimes(like right now) I have a tough time getting things started so I like middles. :] I know my characters well & the story is more exciting then.
