QOTD Wednesday July 6

I recently posted on my blog ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]) about motivation. It inspired today's question.

QUESTION: How do you stay motivated while writing? What are some tricks you use to keep yourself writing chapter after chapter? What helps you complete a novel? Do you even ever lose interest?

BONUS QUESTION: Are you coming to the Agent Chat?

It's REALLY simple: I get other people to bribe me. Because that way, if I DON'T do it, then I don't get their bribes. It works REALLY well.

And yes. I am coming. Hopefully.

I get people to bribe me, too! And if that fails, I go watch something inspiring. There was this Frodo and Sam video on youtube set to Keep Holding On, and it always did the trick. BUT THEY TOOK IT DOWN! I think it's a conspiracy to hinder my writing efforts. THEY WILL NOT PREVAIL! I don't know who "they" are. Big Brother, probably.

And Big Brother has also decided that I will not be attending the agent chat, because I will not have internet. This is the first and last time I'll have it for at least another couple days. But if someone could ask the agent's opinion of YA epic fantasy, that would be awesome! I try to ask as many agents as I can, to get an estimate of how many like it vs. how many don't.

That sounds like a mixed blessing. Good that you rambled, not good that you lost some of the transcripts.

It was. Totally. It was lots of fun, that's for sure! But I was bummed because we had some good questions and answers early on in the chat. I just sat there staring at the screen in denial when it told me I couldn't go back any farther. O_O

Music always helps me a lot. So does just talking about my book with someone, throwing ideas around, etc. I also use Write Or Die constantly. That website saves my life every day.
