Favorite English/Writing teachers?
I think most of us have someone along the way who really encouraged our gift of writing.
One of my earliest sources of encouragement was my 3rd grade English/Reading teacher. She compiled a collection of my poems and short stories (illustrated with crayon!) and presented the ring-bound book to the school library at the end of the year!
What's really cool is that I'm still in touch with her, and she's been routing for me along my journey toward publication.
I am SO THANKFUL for this woman! She definitely fanned the flame when I was very little.
What about you? Do you have a favorite teacher who gave you that writerly nudge?

Re: Favorite English/Writing teachers?
Definitely NOT as cool as that, but still a pretty neat story...
When I was in sixth grade, my math teacher caught me writing during class (whoops, ha ha). She took the paper away from me and said that I could have it back at the end of class. I was a good kid in school and I'd never really done anything like this before. I was afraid I was going to get in trouble, especially when I saw her READING it!'
So, after class, she gave it back, told me she really liked it, and never to do it again. I was so flabbergasted that I don't even know if I said anything! (To this day, I still think it was because I spelled "linoleum" correctly, ha ha!)
