Favorite writing spot
Where do you like to write? What are your favorite nooks, spots, or coffee shops?
My favorite place to write is on my bed, tucked up with my pillows. Next to that though I would have to say a local coffee shop. It's got a great atmosphere and is usually pretty quiet if I want to write all afternoon there.
I also made myself a window seat out of storage bins and pillows up in the attic but I never sit there because in the winter it's too cold and in the summer wasps get in through the window and terrify me.

Re: Favorite writing spot
I like to write in what I call 'The Fortress', which is a blanket fort around the bottom bunk of my bed. It really helps me focus by taking out the distractions of the outside world--as long as I have some sort of tea and music going on in there, I'm set. Other than that, I write at my desk, at night, when it's dark, and downstairs on the couch, when family members aren't there. I had to work my way up to the couch thing, because I really don't like writing around other people--I feel like they could glance at the screen just as I'm writing a terrible line that will never see the light of day and laugh at me or something(just a little paranoid). I hope to one day be able to write in a coffee shop, though I'd have to find a corner to sit against, haha.

@Amanda I am so jealous of your fortress. I would kill for something like that!
I hear you about being paranoid about people reading your work. The other night my dad was getting Netflix to work on my computer and he read some of my novel I left open in the background, just a line or two. But I FREAKED. I've asked everyone not to read my work that's open, and I tend to be really paranoid about it in coffee shops as well.
I don't sit next to strangers or somewhere where people can read it.

@Amanda Okay, I'm SO jealous of that fortress too. I need one of those in my room lol.
@Lizzy I am SO paranoid when it comes to my writing. One time my brothers friends were using my lap top & had read something that was open. I was LIVID. &super embarrassed.
I don't have a certain place where I like to sit & write. I don't spend too much time up in my room although I think I should start doing my writing there. My bed doesn't work for me because I get sleepy if I sit there.
I don't like working in libraries because that's a bit too quiet for me. I like coffee shops & bookstores though.

Re: Favorite writing spot
I suppose paranoia is a bit more common than I thought. I hate it when someone reads something I'm in the process of writing--especially my parents! I feel like they're going to think that I'm talking about them/taking out unresolved feelings against them when I write about a dysfunctional family or something, or an abusive father, mother, ect. The characters called for it! It's nothing personal!

LOL! I know what you mean. The bit my dad read my MC was focusing on the bald patch of the man in front of her. He has a balding spot and so he immediately (and half jokingly) was like "Where did you get the inspiration for this?" Because he likes to pretend he's not balding. LOL! I was too distraught he'd read my work to laugh though.

Yes! Beds are my writing spot too! On my bed, at the foot of my bed, next to my bed (like right now) but never under my bed, lol. I guess it's because I primarily like to write in my room. But sometimes I get tired with the scenery so I'll write downstairs on a specific place on the couch or at the middle of the stairs (aha, yeah, weird place).
I can't write in public. It just gets me very paranoid that someone may be watching me and the outside atmosphere is distracting to me. But it's a great opportunity for people watching!

Totally. I people watch all the time. Everywhere I go, I'm always watching and studying characters.

Your fortress sounds awesome! Aha. I always wanted a bunk bed. I love Fortresses, they are like a secret haven, I don't quite now how to describe it because the words aren't coming to me. All I can think up is comfortable and safe! Aha. I should make a Fortress, too, though it will probably just end up being my closet. xP

Yeah, totally! I love to imagine stories for people I see and that may spark my imagination. I also like studying body language. I can usually tell how my closest friends are feeling just based on body language and tone of voice or other weird quirks.
