Really?? How could you not agree? Katniss isn't even very likeable. O_O
Re: Introduce Yourself!
Agreed. I pretty much hate Katniss. She should have jumped off a bridge a long time ago.
Anyway. I'm glad you're used to it. Because MY hyperness rarely has rhyme or reason to its appearances.
Thanks! I'm pretty much psyched. I'll probably be bouncing for the rest of the week.
It's paranormal romance about a girl who switches bodies with a gumiho(nine-tailed fox from Korean mythology).

I know, right?! I actually like Gale simply because of the fact that he managed to escape unscathed (and unattached) from her at the end of the series.

Oooh, that sounds awesome! The next idea I want to tackle actually takes place in Asia too - only in Japan, instead of Korea, but close enough It's definitely going to take a lot of research though. So, are you Korean?
Re: Introduce Yourself!
Oh, no. Not Korean, sadly. I'm Caucasian. From Texas. I just love Korea. I love the rest of Asia too, but Korea is my favorite. It's like the Asian Ireland!

Yeah, I liked Gale too. But not as much as Peeta. I LOVED Peeta and felt like Katniss TOTALLY didn't deserve him. ;P

lol Pretty much the same here! Have you ever seen a Hayao Miyazaki film - Spirited Away or Howl's Moving Castle? Howl is my fictional boyfriend. Anyways, I am totally in love with Japanese mythology, even though I'm...well, Mom is American and Dad is from Bangladesh, so that makes me Bangla-American, I guess?

I did like Peeta too, but I got ticked off at him for settling for Katniss. I mean, seriously?
Re: Introduce Yourself!
Yeah. It was romantic how he loved her all along, but she TOTALLY doesn't deserve him.
Re: Introduce Yourself!
I've seen some of Hayao Mayazaki's stuff, but I haven't seen Howl's Moving Castle. Tis a tragedy. I really want to! *determined to, now*
Japanese mythology IS interesting. And I love mangas. And anime.
Bangladesh! That's awesome. It makes me think of dancing. Does your dad dance?

Tell me about it. And when the whole love triangle thing started getting pushed, and then she and Stephenie Meyer kept writing so nicely about each other, I was like, "Hmm."

Yes, mangas are awesome! Right now, I'm working through Fullmetal Alchemist and Fruits Basket, and I need to return to Death Note - totally awesome, if a little frightening. And Ouran High is the best anime. Ever. Which mangas do you read?
lol You mean like Bollywood sort of dancing? Perish the thought. ><
Re: Introduce Yourself!
I've read Fruits Basket! And I saw the Death Note anime. Fullmetal Alchemist is on my list... somewhere. xP Mostly I've read cheesy romance mangas besides that, though. I'm a cheesy romance kind of person, sometimes. xD I'd be glad for any suggestions, romancy or not!
No, not Bollywood dancing. Just dancing.

Oooh! Do you have any cheesy romance mangas to recommend? Um, romancy recommendations. In the general YA genre? (If that makes any sense at all) Regardless, there are two authors I always recommend: Scott Westerfield (Leviathan) and Ally Carter (Heist Society or the Gallagher Girls). Sooooooo good. I would think Ally Carter fits more into the romancy/girl-appealing genre than Scott Westerfield, though.
Oh, and I'm hearing a lot about this new book, Anna and the French Kiss? Haven't gotten to read it yet, though. I just went to the library and came back with a full haul (librarian: "God, you're like a kid in a candy shop. me: "I know. Isn't it wonderful?" librarian: "What are we going to do with you?") that mostly involves historical fiction.
And no, my dad doesn't dance - not really, unless he's in a super-good mood, and his rhythm is WAAAYY off. Not exotic or dazzling at all. Sorry.
Re: Introduce Yourself!
Um... I think it made sense. So: Mangas: Cheesy: Hwang Mi-Ri. Yes, she technically is a manhwa artist. But they're cheesy, and they're romance. The drawing style is a touch different.
Books: Uh. I know they exist. I do. There are loads of them. But none are coming to mind off the top of my head. (Granted, it's past 1am. I'm fuzzy.)
That's not true. Ally Carter came to mind. But you already read that.
I've read All of Ally Carter's except the NEWEST Heist one. I love her And I've read some Westerfeld. Not Leviathan. But I've read the Uglies series. I really liked it. Good stuff.
I WANT TO READ THAT. I REEEAAAAALLY want to read that!!!
And I think I like your librarian. xD
Well... I can't really dance either, so I won't judge. xD

We went to an Arab wedding the other day and all the women were just getting down and I was like in the corner with my sister hiding my face with my book. So yeah, can't dance either.
Yeah, my librarians are the greatest. Don't tell them I said that, though. As it is, they're all rubbing it in my face that I finally decided on Library Science: "Look, she's finally seen the light!" when everyone was suggesting it years ago.
Psh. I still want to be an author first and foremost.
Re: Introduce Yourself!
Ha, nice. I would have been hiding with you. xD
Oh, definitely, author is the first choice. But until that happens, working with books is a pretty ideal job.

Yeah. If I knew how to, I'd probably pursue the publishing industry. But, I don't.

Research, my dear Watson! Research.
(...Yes. I am aware that Sherlock never actually said that.)

lol. Yeah. I'm too lazy for research. I'm such a bum these days. BUT, I did see a tweet the other day that Scholastic is hiring, and if I get off my butt, I might actually be excited because Scholastic is the greatest publisher in my world - besides HarperCollins. And Random House.

The Asian Ireland? must visit it then some day

@Kaye Do it. Get off your butt! Go get hired! *shoos you*
@Stephen Yeah! I mean, there are TONS off differences. But they have a lot of similarities, too.

Re: Introduce Yourself!
Hello everyone! I'm Brigid.
1. How old are you? - 18
2. What do you like to write / read? - I write and read pretty much every genre, as long as it has a good plot and strong characters.
3. How long have you been writing? - I used to write picture books with crayons when I was really little ... but I don't think I took writing very seriously until I was about 11.
4. How long have you been reading? - My parents always read to me when I was a kid, so I can't remember a time when I didn't love books. I know I learned to read before I was in kindergarten, and I remember being the best reader in my class and how it made me feel like I was the most special person on earth. Haha.
5. What's a random fact about you? - I'm the oldest of six kids. Aaand I can tap dance!
6. It's 4 in the morning. You find yourself in a grocery store and very hungry. What's the first thing you think to buy? - Hmmm. Probably grapes. I love grapes.
